Objective To isolate and identify the pathogenic bacteria of Hylocereus undatus cv. Zihonglong in Guizhou that naturally occurred during postharvest storage. Methods With Hylocereus undatus cv. Zihonglong as test material, the fungal were isolated and purified from dragon fruit during storage period by the spread plate and streak plate method, and it was accurately identified by the morphology studies and rDNA ITS (internal transcribed spacer) sequence analysis. Results One fungus was isolated, and the fungal was identified to be Gilbertella persicaria. Conclusion G. persicaria is first isolated from rotten dragon fruit in Guizhou province, and it has strong pathogenicity to red pitaya fruits.
