Objective To investigate the effects of different sources and different equivalent concentrations of Folin reagent on the determination of tea polyphenols in solid instant tea. Methods Totally 4 kinds of instant tea samples were taken as the testing object, and 3 different sources of Folin reagents were used for the determination. The effects of the different sources of Folin reagents on the test results of tea polyphenols in the instant tea were analyzed by statistical method. Results The relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 4 kinds of Folin reagents for the determination of tea polyphenols were 0.88% to 1.60%, showing high precision. There was significant difference in the detection results of with the different concentrations of Folin reagents (P0.05). Conclusion Different concentrations of Folin reagents show significant differences in the test results. In order to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the test results of tea polyphenols, the equivalent concentration of Folin reagents should be confirmed before using.
