Objective To screen the Bacillus-like strains producing β-alaninebetaine. Methods Fermentation liquid samples of 32 Bacillus-like strains were prepared by tryptone soy broth (TSB) medium. Extracellular metabolites of these strains were analyzed by liquid chromatography-hybrid quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC-QTOF MS) combined with Metlin database. Results Among the selected 32 strains, Bacillus cereus strain FJAT-16152 was the only strain whose extracellular metabolites contained β-alaninebetaine. The content of β-alaninebetaine in strain FJAT-16152 was 1.47%, with the match score of 96.58%. Conclusion Bacillus cereus FJAT-16152 can produce β-alaninebetaine, which can provide theoretical basis for development and utilization of active substances from Bacillus-like strains.
