Abstract：Fishingboatshaveuniquefeaturesthatmakethempronetochangingloadingconditions.Whentheboatleavestheport,theemptyfishtankgraduallyfillsupduringfishingoperationswhichmayresultinparametricroll(PR).Thisdangerousphenomenonthatcanleadtocapsizing.Thepresentstudyaimstounderstandbetterthebehaviourofparametricrollinfishingboatsanditsrelationtochangingloadingconditions.ThestudyconsiderstheeffectsofdisplacementandtheGM/KMratioonparametricroll,aswellasthelongitudinalflaredistributionatthewaterline.Twoassessmentstodetecttheparametricrolloccurrenceinearlystagewerecarriedoutbyusingthelevel1assessmentofparametricrollbasedontheSecondGenerationofIntactStabilitycriteria(SGIS)fromInternationalmaritimeOrganisation(IMO)andtheSusceptibilitycriteriaofParametricrollfromtheAmericanBureauofShipping(ABS).Then,theCFDmethodisusedtopredicttheamplitudeoftheparametricrollphenomenon.Theresultsprovideimportantinsightstofishingvesseloperatorsonhowtomanageloadingconditionstomaintainstabilityandavoidhazardoussituations.Byfollowingtheguidelinesoutlinedinthisstudy,fishingboatscanoperatemoresafelyandefficiently,reducingtheriskofaccidentsandimprovingtheoverallsustainabilityofthefishingindustry.
