HomogenizedAZ80alloysweresubjectedtomulti-passhotrollingwithasmallthicknessreductionperpass,andthetotalreductionratioswere40%,50%,60%and70%,respectively.Microstructure,textureandmechanicalpropertiesoftheplateshavebeeninvestigated.Theresultsindicatethatthedeformationtwinsarepromotedduringsmallthicknessreductionrollingprocess,andthetwinboundariessubdividethedeformedgrainsintopieces.Thegrainsaregraduallyrefinedwiththetransformationoftwinboundariesintograinboundaries.Alelementsenrichatthetwinboundariestoformbandedenrichedareas,andtheAl-contentintheenrichedareaisincreasedwiththeincreasingofdeformationuntilsomegranularβ-Mg17Al12phasesprecipitate.Furthermore,theas-rolledspecimensexhibit(0001)//NDbasaltexture,andthetextureischangedfromasinglepeaktodoublepeakswiththeincreasingofdeformation.Tensiletestsindicatethatthemechanicalpropertiesintransversedirection(TD)arehigherthanthatinrollingdirection(RD)foreachas-rolledspecimenduetotheformationoftexture.
