Closed-Loopcouplingofsimulationmodelsandtestingenvironmentallowsfront-loadingofsystemintegration,andthusvalidationandcalibrationinearlydevelopmentphases.Thisreducesthenecessarytimeandcostsforthedevelopmentofnewpower-trains.Withthesupportofco-simulationmethodologies,aseamlesstransfercanbeappliedfromcomponentdesign,tomodel-in-the-loop(MiL)andhardware-in-the-loop(HiL)tests.Thereutilizationofenginemodelsfromdesktopsimulationsincomponenttestbench-essavesextramodellingeffortwithmaintainedmodelaccuracy.Forreal-timeapplications,acrankangleresolvedcombustionenginemodelbuiltinGT-Powerisdescribedinthispaper.Itiscali-bratedwithtestbenchmeasurementdataandintegratedintoaSIMULINK-basedvehicleco-simulation.Theco-simulationincludestheenginemodel,adualclutchtransmissionmodel,avehicledynamicsmodel,anda12Velectricalpowernetmodel.Aftersysteminte-grationandvalidationbasedonrealvehiclemeasurementresultsonadesktopPC,theco-simulationistransferredtoareal-timeHiL-simulator.AsanexemplaryuseoftheHiL-basedmethodology,acomponenttestingscenario,coupledtothevirtualreal-timesimulationenvi-ronment,isevaluated.The12Velectricalpowernetoftheco-simulationmodelisreplacedwithrealhardwareincludingthebatteryandthealternator.Anovelpowernetmanagementstrategyisevaluatedwiththeclosed-loopreal-timesimulationinordertovalidatetheca-pacityoftheenginemodel.Itisdemonstratedthattheeffortsformodeladaptationfromdesktoptoreal-timeapplicationareacceptableandleadingtoconsistentresults.
