Recently,EuroNCAPhasimplementedawidesetofchangesinitsprotocolssoastoincreasetheseverityofitsloadcasesandimprovethebiofidelityoftheanthropomorphictestdevicesthatareusedinthetests.Withthisobjectiveinmind,inthesideimpacttests,notonlyhasthedummybeenchangedfromEuroSIDIItoWorldSID;butthetestconfigurationshavealsobeenmodified.Inthecar-to-carimpacttest,themovabledeformablebarrierthatisusedasanimpactorhasbeenupdated,modifying,inthisway,theforcethatthevehiclereceivesfromthebarrier.Inthepoletest;however,thechangeswerefoundintheimpactangleandspeed.Thecrashisnowperformedwithanimpactangleof75o(insteadofapurelyperpendicularimpact)andatanincreasedspeedof32km/h(vs.theprevious29km/h).InthispapertheeffectofmodifyingthemaintestsetupvariablesthathavebeenchangedinthenewEuroNCAPSideImpactProtocolswillbestudiedseparately;analyzingwhichofthemhasagreatereffectontheWorldSIDresponse.Becauseofthis,comparativeWorldSIDpendulumtestshavebeenperformed,changingeithertheimpactorweight,testspeedorangleofimpact.Byanalyzingtheresultsfromthesetestsitwillbepossibletoassesswhichofthethreefactorsaffectthedummyresponsethemost.Thisconclusionmaybeusedtodevelopfuturevehicles,consequentlyfocusingonthemostcriticalaspectsfortheoccupant.
