Comparedwithpureelectricdrivingmoresuitableforsmallsizevehicles,HEV/PHEVisabettersolutiontoimprovefueleconomyforlarge-sizevehicles.Inthispaper,thedevelopmentofanewgenerationplug-inhybridsystemforFAWC-classvehicleisdescribed.Theplug-inhybridsystemisbasedonP2configuration,whichischaracterizedbyonetractionmotorandaseparatingclutch.Theobjectiveofthehybridsystemdevelopmentistoachievethebestpossiblefuelconsumptionbyahighlyefficientpowertrainandahybridcontrolsystem.Thecorecomponentsinthehybridsystemincludeahigh-efficiency4-cylinderGDI(GasolineDirectInjection)engine,CCM(ClutchCouplingwithMotor)module,7-speedDCT(DualClutchTransmission),Li-ionhigh-voltagebattery,DC/DCconverter,electricoilpump,on-boardchargerandsoon.TheCCMmodulewhichintegratestractionmotorandseparatingclutchisthemostimpor-tantcomponentinthishybridsystem.Theseparatingclutchcandecouplethecombustionengineduringpureelectricdrivingandalsocanoffertheoptiontostart-upthecombustionenginebyengagingtheclutch.Inordertoachievethevehicleperformancetarget,ahybridcontrolsystemwasdeveloped.Thecontroltechnologydevelopedfacili-tateshybridfunctionssuchase-driving,start-stop,recuperation,boostandsoon.Achallengingproblemofthehybridcontrolsystemisenginestartcontrol.ThereforeaDCTclutchslipcontrolfunctionwasdesignedtopreventenginestarttorquevariationtransmittingtothedrivewheels.Meanwhileastarttorquecalculationfunctionwasdesignedtoaccuratelyestimatethestartingtorquewhichincludesthedriverdesiringtorque,theenginestarttorqueandthecompensationtorque.Thehybridcontrolsystemwhichcontrolsthetractionmotor,theseparatingclutch,theDCTclutchandthecombustionengineatthesametimeachievessmoothvehicleaccelerationduringenginestartwhilethevehicleisrunning.Equippedwiththenewgenerationplug-inhybridsystem,thebest-in-classfueleconomyandexcellentpureelectricdrivingcharac-teristicswasachievedbytheFAWC-classvehicle.Asaresult,thesuperlowvalueoffuelconsumptionwas2.3L/100km,atthesametime,the52kmofpureelectricdrivingrangewasreachedbytheluxuryC-classvehicle.
