StainlesssteellinerhasbeenusedforthetrenchlessrehabilitationofdamagedpipelinesinChina,butitslimitedbucklingstrengthseverelyconstrainsitswiderapplicationduetothelackofringstiffness.Theincreaseoflinerthicknesstosomeextentresultsinagreaterbucklingstrength,butstillunavoidablycausesahighercost.Withtheintentionofimprovingthestabilityofthethin-wallstructureaswellassavingprojectcostatthesametime,anupdatedstructure,consistingofnumbersofarchliners,wasintroducedinthispaper.Liketheconventionalcircularliner,archlinersarein-situmanuallyweldedtothehostpipetoformacylinder.Topredictthebucklingstrengthofrigidlyencasedarchliners,atheoreticalmodel,modifiedfromGlock'sbucklingmodel,wasalsoproposed,basedonwhichtheenhancementfactorKwasdefined.Withthistheoreticalmodel,aseriesofcalculationswasdonetodemonstratethearchliner'simprovedstability.Meanwhile,finite-elementmethod(FEM)wasusedtoestimatethebucklingstrengthofarchliners,andtheArc-LengthControlMethodwasappliedinthesimulationtotracethepre-andpost-bucklingbehavior.ComparisonbetweenthetheoreticalmodelandFEMresultswasperformedandtheexcellentagreementshowedthemodel'scorrectness.
