ManyhighwaysinHuiAutonomousRegionandothernorthwesternPRCpassthroughcollapsibleloessregions.Roaddamagesoftenbecomesevereandmaintenancehighduetoinappropriateroadfoundationtreatmentforbudgetandconstructionperiodreasons.Inviewofthis,experimentsectionsweresetonhighwaysfromTongxintoYanchuangzi,onwhichdifferentprocessingmethodsaretestedfordifferentclassesofcollapsibleloess.Methodsincludingimpactrollingmethod,compactionmethodforreplacedfilling,dynamiccompactionmethodandcompactionpilemethodwereusedindifferentexperimentsection.Theasphaltpavementwasalsodividedthreelayersandconstructedwiththreephasesinintervalsforbettermitigatingroaddamages.Ingeneraltheoverallmeasurestakeeffectsintermsofqualityandcost.TheexperiencesandlessonsfromthehighwayinanattempttodomorewithlessmaybebeneficialandinstructivetofuturesimilarhighwayprojectsinnorthwesternareainChina.
