Thepresentrateofeconomicgrowthisunsustainablewithoutsavingofnaturalenergy.Thus,mankindwillsoonhavetorelyonalternaterenewableenergysources.Also,suitablewastemanagementstrategyisanotherimportantaspectofsustainabledevelop-ment.Plasticshavebeenoneofthematerialswiththefastestgrowthbecauseoftheirwiderangeofapplicationsduetoversatilityandrela-tivelylowcost.Thepresentworkinvolvesthesynthesisofapetroleum-basedfuelbythepyrolysisofplastics.ThermalconversionprocesshasbeenappliedwiththreetypesofplasticmixturenamelyHDPE,LDPE,andPPintheratioof2:2:1.Thephysicalandchemicalpropertiesofplasticfuelarewithinthestandardlimits.ThreedifferentblendsnamelyP10,P20andP30arepreparedbymixingdieselandplasticfuel.Theperformanceandemissionanalysisoftheselectedoilsamplehasbeencarriedoutonathree-cylinderCIengine.Theresultsarecomparedwiththeperformanceandemissionsofsameengineoperatedonpuredieselfuel.ThechangeinpoweroutputislessbuttheHCemissionincreasesconsiderably.
