MechanicalPropertyStudiesforaNovelNegativePoissonsRatioLatticeMicrostructureandItsApplicationinCrashbox.pdf
Lightweightstructureandmaterial,suchascellularmaterial,playanimportantroleinvehicleengineering.Inthispa-per,wedesignanovelnegativePoisson'sratio(NPR)latticemicrostructure.TherelativedensityformulafortheNPRlatticematerialisfirstlygiven.Byusingthesinglecellfiniteelementmodel,parametersanalysesareperformedfortheeffectiveelasticmodulusandPois-son'sratioofNPRlatticemicrostructure.Then,thecompressionmechanicalpropertiesoftheNPRlatticemicrostructurearestudiedbyusingthenonlinearfiniteelementanalysisprogramLS-DYNA.Forthequasi-staticcompressionanalysis,theresultsshowthattheNPRstructurehasawiderangeofstressplateauarea,lowfirstpeakstress,anenhancedplateaustressandawiderangeofthehighidealen-ergyabsorptionefficiency.Finally,usingtheNPRmicrostructuretodesignthecrash-box,electricvehiclefrontcollisionanalysisiscar-riedout.Comparedwiththeoriginalmodel,thefirststepofthewholeaccelerationdecreaseobviously,andtheintrusionsofmeasurepointsareimprovedevidently.Thoughourcurrentstudieslackexperimentvalidation,thesimulationresultshaveshownthatNPRcrash-boxisbetterthanthetraditionalcrashbox,andNPRlatticemicrostructurehasagreatpotentialasthenext-generationlightweightenergyabsorptionmaterial.
