RoadaccidentsarebeingrecognizedasthebiggestdisasterinSriLanka,andithascausedtodestroyvaluablehumanlives,publicandprivatepropertiesandaffectssocialharmonyamongpeople.Poordevelopmentofroadinfrastructureandincreaseofthevehicularpopulationhavebecomethemajorfactorsforthiscircumstance.In2013SriLanka'stotalvehicularpopulationwasabout5,203,678,andmotorcyclestakeupabout52#ofthem.Ontheotherhandtherewas16#ofmotortricyclesand10#ofcars,andthissituationclearlyshowsthatSriLankaneedstopayitshighattentiononsafetyofmotorcyclists.Butunfortunatelyithasmetabout16,500accidentswithmotorcyclesand10,000withthree-wheelersoutofthe61,500in2012.InSriLankamanymotorcycleaccidentswerecausedbyspeedcombinedwithfatigue,recklessdrivingandspeedingonwetroad.Aconsiderablenumberofmotorcycleaccidentshavehappenedmaybeduetopoormaintenanceofvehicles,slowmovingvehicles,unnecessaryovertakingandmonotonyoflandscapeincludingpoorroaddesigns.Although,roadsinSriLankaaredevelopedrapidly,poorattentionhasbeenpaidonmotorcyclists,cyclists,three-wheelersandpedestrians.Thiscouldberecognizedasamajorcauseforaccidents,andtherefore,roadinfrastructuredevelopmentshouldbedoneconsideringalltypesofroadusers.InSriLanka,usuallyroadaccidentdatabasedonpoliceinjuryrecordsareprobablyinadequateandinsufficientduelargelytounderreporting.Howeverthispaperwillnotaimtocollectsecondarydataandtomakeanalysis.ThemainobjectiveofthispaperistorecognizepossiblesolutionstomitigatemotorcycleaccidentsanddamagesinSriLanka.Anexperts'opinionsurveyandaninjuredmotorcyclistsinterviewsurveyswillbedonetorecognizepossibleandappropriatesolutions.Conclusionswillbemadebasedonstatisticsofthesetwosurveys.
