Themechanicalbehaviorofpolyvinylbutyral(PVB)filmplaysanimportantroleinwindshieldcrashworthinessandpedestrianprotectionandshouldbedepthstudy.Inthisarticle,theuniaxialtensiontestsofPVBfilmatvariousstrainrates(0.001s-1-1s-1)andtemperatures(-10℃-70℃)areconductedtoinvestigateitsmechanicalbehavior.Then,temperatureandstrainratedependentviscoelasticcharacteristicsofPVBaresystematicallystudied.TheresultsshowthatPVBisakindoftemperatureandstrainratesensitivethermalviscoelasticmaterial.TemperatureincreaseandstrainratedecreasehavethesameinfluenceonmechanicalpropertiesofPVB.Besides,themechanicalcharacteristicsofPVBchangenon-linearlywithtemperatureandstrainrate.Finally,twothermalviscoelasticconstitutivemodel(ZWTmodelandDSGZmodel)aresuggestedtodescribethetensionbehaviorofPVBfilmatvariousstrainratesandtemperatures.ResultsmayprovidebasicexperimentaldataandtheoreticalsupporttoexploreenergyabsorbingcharacteristicsandsafetydesignofPVBlaminatedglass.
