TheUNECEWorldForumforHarmonizationofVehicleRegulationconfirmedtheexternalnoiselimitvaluesofUNReg-ulationNo.51-03fornoiseemittedbyacceleratingmotorvehiclesin2015,andputitintoimplementfromJuly1st2016.ButresearchshowsthattheUNRegulationNo.51-03limitvaluesandrelatedsub-categoriesofM3busesandcoachesaresetbasedonratedenginepowerofEuropeandieselengines.Thusthislimitvalueandsub-categorysystemcannotcoverbusesandcoacheswithChinesedieselen-gines,gasolineengine,hybridengineandelectricpowerbecausetheratedpowerarequitedifferentbetweendifferentengineenergycat-egoriesanddifferentcountries.Andfurtherresearchpointsoutthatanewsub-categorymethodshouldbeappliedtocoverallM3busesandcoacheswithdifferentenginetechnologiesandenergycategories.
