InParametersofvalvetrains,suchascamprofilesandvalvetiming,haveveryimportantinfluenceonpoweroutputandeconomicalefficiencyofinternalcombustionengine.Forincreasingthetorqueofadomestic-produceddieselengineatlowspeedcon-dition,itisanalyzedindetailsthevalvetiming,thestaticanddynamiccharacteristicsofcamprofilesintheoriginalroller-armvalvemechanismsystem.Comparingtheparameterswiththeothersametypedieselengines,threeimprovedprojectsofcamareproposedandcomparedbysimulationmodelwhichhasbeenverifiedbyexperimentaldata.BothcamprofilesofHigh-orderPolynomialFunctionstypeandLow-orderPolynomialCombinationFunctionstypeareappliedtothedesignprocessbyusingtheself-developedcamdesignsoft-ware.Severalfactorsshouldbeconsideredinthedesignprocessofenginevalvetrains,however,amongwhichthevalvetimingandthefullnesscoefficientsofcamprofilesarethemosttwoimportantfactors.Withtheconstraintconditionofthefullnesscoefficientsvalueofcamprofilesmustbebiggerthan0.55andtheminimumvalueofnegativecurvatureradiusmustbebiggerthantheradiusofgrindingwheelusedduringthemanufactureprocess,theprojectofLow-orderPolynomialCombinationFunctionstypeprofilesareselectedtobetheoptimizedone.Throughtheenginetestverificationandvalidation,thetorqueoftheoptimizedengineincreasesover11%andthefu-elconsumptiondecreasesby2.34%atlowspeedcondition.
