Urbanarterialsfeaturelargetrafficvolumesandseveretrafficsafetyconditions.Forthepurposeofimprovingtrafficsafety,thekeyissueistoidentifycrashoccurrencecontributingvariables,ofwhichspeedarousesattentionincreasingly.FloatingCarDataobtainedbytaxisequippedwithGlobalPositioningSystem,wereusedinthestudytocapturethefeaturesofspeedalongasegment.Basedonatotalof234onedirectionroadsegmentsfrom8arterials,thisstudyaimsatanalyzingsafetyperformanceconsideringaveragesegmentspeed.Regardingdatastructureasarterial-levelandsegment-level,BayesianhierarchicalPoissonlog-normalmodelwasdeveloped.Inaddition,MaximumLikelihoodEstimationpriorwasadoptedtoimproveestimatesreliability.Resultsindicatedaveragesegmentspeedwasnegativelyassociatedwithcrashoccurrence;othervariables(e.g.densityofsignalspacing,segmentvolume,segmentlength,numberoflanes,numberofphases,bus-onlylane)werealsosignificantlyassociatedwithcrashes.
