Underwatertargetmonitoringisofincreasinginterestinunderwatercyber-physicalsystem.Howtodetectanunderwaterinvasiontargetwithwirelesssensorandactuatornetwork(WSAN)islargelyunex-plored.ThispaperisconcernedwiththeintrusiondetectionproblemforunderwatertargetbyconsideringboththenetworkrobustnessandthecommunicationenergyefficiencywithWSANviaaregioncoverageapproach.Differentfrommostexistingworks,theWSANconsistoftwokindsofnodes,i.e.sensorn-odes(SNs)whichcannotmoveautonomouslyandactuatornodes(ANs)whichcanmoveautonomously.WiththemobilityofANs,avirtuallattice-basedmonitorpatrolling(VLMP)algorithmisfirstpresentedtoachieveregionmonitoringinthesparseunderwatersurface.Inordertoadjusttheunderwaterenviron-ment,asparseandenergy-efficientnetworkstructureisdesigned.Then,anoptimallyrigidgraphbasedcoordinatelatticemonitorpatrolling(OCLMP)algorithmisproposedtoimprovetheintruderdetectionperformance.Inaddition,itisprovedthattheperformanceofintruderdetectionprobabilityandtopol-ogyconnectivitycanbeimprovedwiththeproposedalgorithms.Finally,simulationresultsshowtheeffectivenessoftheproposedmethodonintrusiondetection,connectivityandenergy-efficiency.
