Variousstudiesreportontemporalchangesofseismicvelocitiesinthecrustandattempttorelatetheobservationstochangesofstressandmaterialpropertiesaroundfaults.Whilethereisgrowingnumberofobservationsonco-seismicvelocityreductions,detailedobservationsofhealingphasesaregenerallylacking.Herewereportonpronouncedco-seismicreductionofvelocitiesaroundtwoasperitiesontheLongmenshanfaultproducedbythe2008Mw7.9Wenchuanearthquake,andsubsequenthealingofthevelocities.
