Abstract：Anovelsemi-submersibleplatformisproposedfor5MWwindturbines.Thisconceptfocusesonanintegratedsystemformedbycombiningporousshellswithasemi-submersibleplatform.Acoupledaerodynamic-hydrodynamic-mooringanalysisofthenewsystemisperformed.Themotionresponsesofthenovelplatformsystemandthetraditionalplatformarecompared.Thedifferencesinhydrodynamicperformancebetweenthetwoplatformsarealsoevaluated.Theinfluenceofthegeometricparameters(porosity,diameter,andwallthickness)ofporousshellsonthemotionresponsebehaviorofthenewsystemisstudied.Overall,thenewsemi-submersibleplatformexhibitssuperiorstabilityintermsofpitchandheavedegreesoffreedom,demonstratingminimaleffectsonthemotionresponseinthesurgedegreeoffreedom.
