Withtheincreaseofbladeloading,thelosspredictionmodelusedinthedesignprocessneedsrefinementandimprovementtomeettherequirementofhigh-performancedesign.Fortheturbinedesign,mostofexistingprofilelossmodelsaredevelopedforsubsonicandtransoniccasesandtheiraccuracyinhighMachnumberflowarelimited.TheprimaryresearchinterestofthisworkistostudytheflowmechanismofturbinecascadewithhighMachnumberandtherelatedprofileloss.Inthiswork,atransonicturbinecascadewithstrongshockwaveisnumericallystudiedwithReynoldsAveragedNavier-Stokes(RANS).Also,toovercomethelimitationsofRANSmodeling,DelayedDetachedEddySimulation(DDES)typehigh-fidelityturbulencesimulationisalsoconducted.Basedonthenumericalresults,theprimarylosssources,includingtheprofileloss,thetrailinglossandtheshocklossareanalyzedandresultsfromexistinglossmodelsareassessed.TheresultsfromcurrentworkmayhelptodevelopimprovedprofilelossmodelforthedesignofturbinecascadeworkinginthehighMachnumberregime.
