Silicasolisoneofthefrequently-usedbindersinhigh-temperatureresistingfibrousporousceramics,butinthedryingprocess,itcandiffusewithwaterandinfluencetheuniformityofceramics.Tosolvethisdiffusionproblemandfabricatehomogeneousfibrousporousceramics,cationicstarchwasfirstlyintroducedinmullitefibroussystem.Theeffectsofstarchcontentandhightemperaturebindercontentonmicrostructure,physicalandmechanicalpropertieswerealsoinvestigated.Theresultsindicatethatstarchconsolidatedmullitefibrousceramicsownedahomogeneous3Dskeletonstructure,sincetheintroducedstarchcanabsorbbothwaterandsilicaparticlesbygelatinizationandensuretheevendistributionofbinders.Comparedwiththemullitefibrousceramicsfabricatedwithoutstarchaddition,starchconsolidatedceramicsownedbettermicrostructureandhigherinteriorcompressionstrength.Furthermore,boththestarchandsilicasolcontenthadgreatimpactonthemicrostructure,density,porosity,thermalconductivityandcompressivestrengthofthefibrousceramic.
