Duringthepastyears,therecoveryofunconventionalgasformationhasat-tractedlotsofattentionandachievedhugesuccess.Toproducegasfromthelow-permeableunconventionalformations,hydraulicfracturingtechnologyisessentialandcrit-ical.Inthispaper,wepresentthedevelopmentofathree-dimensionalthermal-hydraulic-mechanicalnumericalsimulatorforthesimulationofhydraulicfracturingopera-tionsintightsandstonereservoirs.Oursimulator,namedasFracCSM,isbasedoninte-gratedfinitedifference(IFD)method,Inthismethod,thesimulationdomainissubdivi-dedintosubdomainsandthegoverningequationsareintegratedoverasubdomainwithfluxtermsexpressedasanintegraloverthesubdomainboundaryusingthedivergencethe-orem.Oursimulatorconductscoupledthermal-hydraulic-mechanicalsimulationoftheini-tiationandpropagationofhydraulicfractures.Italsocalculatesthemass/heattransportofinjectedhydraulicfluidsaswellasproppants.Oursimulatorisabletohandleanisotropicformationswithmultiplelayers.Theaccuracyofoursimulatorhasbeenvalidatedbycom-paringwithananalyticalsolutionaswellasanindustrialstandardcommercialsoftware.
