Brakediscsarebrakesystemcomponentsthatinhibitvehiclemotionbyconvertingkineticenergytothermalenergyviafrictionwithbrakepadsduringtheprocessofbraking.Thevaneshapesofaventilatedbrakediscplayaveryimportantroleindissipatingtheheatgeneratedbyfriction.Inthisstudy,weappliedpillarvanes,ratherthantheradialstraightvanescommonlyused,toaninternalventilatedstructure,andinvestigatedthecoolingeffectsaccordingtotheparameterizedpillarshapes,theeffectonthenaturalfrequencychangedbythepillarshapeparameterswasalsoconsideredinordernottooccurresonancewithotherpartsofbrakesystem.Tooptimizethegeometryofthepillarvanesatasimilarweightwiththeradialstraightvanedisc,theTaguchimethodwasusedtodeterminetherela-tionsamongthecoolingperformance,naturalfrequencyandweightaccordingtothevariouspillar-shapeparameters.AnexperimentbasedonTaguchi'sL-27(310)orthogonalarraywascarriedoutusingnumericalmethod,andthenthethreecharacteristicsweresimul-taneouslyanalyzedusingGreyrelationalanalysis.TheoptimalparametervaluesweredeterminedbasedontheGreyrelationalgradeval-ues,andthenaverificationsimulationwasperformedtoverifytheaccuracyoftheanalysis.Bytheresultoftheverification,thediffer-encesbetweenthepredictionandtheverificationsimulationresultswere-1.9%forthedisctemperature,1.8%forthe3Z-modefrequen-cy,and1.8%fortheweightofthedisc.
